Background and Client: Homeowner in Nashville
For this project, our team worked on a home located in Nashville, not far from our Goodlettsville location. The homeowner was hoping to add a new covered deck to their home to expand the living space and give them an outdoor space to enjoy.

The Project: A New Covered Deck
This project would be a completely new deck built from the ground up. The homeowner wanted a space that would allow them to spend some more time in the fresh air—however, they wanted the deck to still provide shade and shelter with a full roof over the top.

The homeowner provided inspirational pictures, and our team drew out a design that they ultimately approved.
The Challenges: Matching the New and Old Roofs
As this deck would be attached to the home, it was important to the homeowner that we match up the deck’s roof to the existing roof of the home. This meant matching both the shingles that comprised the deck roof as well as a few additional siding pieces, as these would be needed for the small portion where the roof line of the home and the covered deck met.
Luckily, as experienced roofing experts, blending the roofs together would not be a problem, and our team had a plan to create a seamless appearance for the roof as a whole.
The Results: A Seamless Deck Installation
Our team got to work planning out this project. We matched the deck’s roof using Owens Corning Oakridge shingles in Driftwood, a perfect match for the existing roof on the rest of the home. For the decking itself, we opted for Yellawood, a top manufacturer for pressure-treated decking that lasts for years.
Throughout the process, our team worked to match the new deck to the existing structure, all while protecting landscaping, existing siding, and various other elements of the home. The resulting deck creates a wonderful blend of airflow and outdoor feel along with plenty of shelter from the heat and other outdoor elements.
