This Exterior Remodel Featured Beautiful Cedar Shake Siding
First impressions are everything when it comes to achieving the perfect aesthetic for your home. In many cases, a home exterior remodel will take particular care to ensure front windows, entryways, and other forward-facing elements of the home are making the perfect first impression on guests and folks passing by.
For this Nixa homeowner, they felt the front of their home needed a facelift—one that would tie the home in with the surrounding trees and add rustic charm from the first look from the street. Our team at Xtreme Exteriors had the skills and design know-how to make it happen—and the results were truly impressive. Let’s take a look at this project!
Background & Client: A Homeowner Southwest of Nixa
Our client for this project was a homeowner located southwest of Nixa, not far from Finley Creek. The area is relatively wooded, and homes in the community enjoy the peace, quiet, and close contact with nature the area provides.
This home in particular was set a bit farther back from the road, and the view of the home from the street featured trees in the foreground as well as surrounding the home. To match the setting, the home used many natural wood elements producing an almost log cabin-like feel. However, the front of the home needed a facelift, and that’s when this homeowner reached out to Xtreme Exteriors to complete this exterior remodel.
The Project: An Exterior Remodel and Restoration
While the home is in great shape, our client wanted to renew the natural, rustic charms brought about by all the woodwork and elements featured throughout. Our main task would be to replace the aging wood shake shingles on the front of the house. We would also provide a fair amount of detailing including new soffits around the entire home that would then be painted to the homeowner’s specifications.
The goal was to not overhaul the look of the home but to renew and enhance the overall appearance through thoughtful detail work and a new set of wood shakes.
Getting to Work
Our team got started right away, removing the old wood shakes on the front of the home and disposing of this existing siding. We installed brand-new cedar shakes on the front of the home.
For the soffits, we used James Hardie primed soffit panels throughout the home, both vented and non-vented per specifications for the home. We also used Fastplank aluminum soffit products in dark cherry for areas of the front and back, including a large gable over the front porch and another in the rear of the home over the client’s deck.
In the process, our team also completed some needed repair work. This included sheathing repairs near the front porch and correcting some of the flashings on the home where the gutter met the walls.
After: A Home Exterior, Renewed
With work completed, we stepped back to enjoy the results. As you can see in the after pictures, the home features a charming, woodsy theme that our work on the cedar shakes and soffits helped to greatly enhance. The front porch of the home features beautiful wood beams and the new wood shakes provide the perfect backdrop to highlight this unique detail, along with the red and green door and window frames.
Overall, our team was able to bring out the best qualities of this home, maintaining its character while adding a significant amount of curb appeal.
